A little about me..... I have always been in awe of pregnancy and birth. As I child I used to watch pregnant women and just be in total amazement at the way they moved and how they rubbed and patted their growing bellies. After they would travel their paths of birth, I would relish in the bits of conversations I would hear at my mother's kitchen table. Getting the chance to visit a new baby was pure magic for me.
As an adult, my feelings have not changed. I am still filled with joy when I get the opportunity to help a family prepare for birth and the first days as new parents. I attended my first birth related workshop over 10 years ago and have enjoyed spending time since then, expanding my knowledge, attending births as a doula, supporting families during the post-partum time and becoming a certified Childbirth Educator. The opportunity to give birth to my own children has infused more passion into my feelings about birth and parenting. It was through my birth experiences that I was able to gain more insight into the importance of solid information that is based on science. I learned more about the value of a supportive relationship with the members of my "birth team," including my husband, family and midwives.
My husband, Brandon, and I, live in Southwest Washington with our son and daughter.... whose birth's I think about each day!
